Heinrich Wietheuper wurde in Osnabrück als Sohn eines Eisenbahnschaffners geboren und arbeitete
selbst als Handlungsgehilfe. Er starb am 13. November 1914 als Unteroffizier bei Kamienna.
Am 12. September 1914 schildert er in mehreren Briefen an seine Familie, was er an der Ostfront
erlebt: „Unsere Kompanie hat 180 Mann abgeben müssen an die aktiven Regimenter 18 und 59. Die
haben bei Tannenberg jeder über 1000 Mann verloren. […] Die Hauptsache ist, daß wir so weiter
siegen!“

Hans Eisenträger war in Münden als Sohn eines Oberpostsekretärs geboren worden und im Laufe&#13;
seiner Jugend nach Osnabrück gezogen. Bis zu seinem Tod am 12 Juni 1917 diente als Leutnant der&#13;
Reserve in Belgien und Frankreich. Hans Eisenträger starb im Alter von 20 Jahren in den Ardennen.&#13;
In seinem Brief vom 22. Oktober 1914 beschreibt er die Abfahrt aus Osnabrück und den Jubel, mit&#13;
dem die Soldaten die belgische Grenze passierten: „Abfahrt. Bahndamm bis bald Hörne dicht besetzt.&#13;
An der alten Wache Natrup-Hagen vorbei über Münster, Hamm, Haltern (Abendessen) zum Rhein&#13;
