Das Osnabrücker Stahlwerk verzeichnet in diesem Monat die höchste Beschäftigtenzahl im Krieg.
Über 3000 Menschen arbeiten dort, davon 510 Frauen und 646 Kriegsgefangene.
Beide schließen bei wichtigen Rüstungsbetrieben die Lücken, die die Einberufungen hinterlassen
haben. Auch das Osnabrücker Kupfer- und Drahtwerk oder der Bombenproduzent Brück, Kretschel &amp;
Co. können nur so ihren vollen Auftragsbüchern gerecht werden. Immer mehr Frauen finden auch
sich bei der Straßenbahn oder an Bankschaltern.
Die Gesellschaft akzeptiert Frauenarbeit allerdings nur als Übergangslösung. Und auch für die Frauen
steht weniger die Gleichberechtigung als der Zwang im Vordergrund, die Familie zu ernähren. Denn
dazu reicht die öffentliche Unterstützung für „Kriegerfrauen“ durch Geld oder Lebensmittelkarten
alleine nicht aus.
